Years ago Brandy was used for several medicinal purposes, it was even used on babies when teething. It was found that when rubbed onto babies gums it seemed to releave the pain and settle the baby down. Sum grandparents recommend we put a small drop of Brandy in their bedtime bottles and it would help them sleep through the night. It seemed to work so well that all mums were doing it.

Fruit and Fibre
Adding fibre to your diet gradually can help lower cholesterol and guard against heart disease, lower blood pressure, relieve constipation and prevent colon cancer. Adding more fibre to any diet should be a gradual process, because if you start to eat to much fibre when your bodies not use to it, you can end up suffering from gas. So start by introducing more fibre first at breakfast with cereal ie: porridge, fruit & bran flakes, figs. Then change to wholemeal bread and of course your vegetables, artichokes are also high in fibre. Fibre also helps to clean the colon it apparently acts like a brush, thus helping to prevent colon cancer. A daily intake of 25 to 30 grams is recommended.

Known to help with travel sickness, stomach upsets and symptoms of migraines try taking ¼ teaspoon of fresh powdered ginger 20 minutes before you travel either by car or boat. Or you could try ginger tea or even a couple of ginger biscuits.

If after a big meal of potatoes, rice or pasta do you tend to drowse off, then that's because of an amino acid called tryptophan which is delivered to the brain after eating these types of food. We have all probably eaten licorice at some stage in our life as a child in the forms of sweet's such as the famous "Black Jack chew's or liicorice sticks" but, did you know that it has actually been found to help people who suffer with Irraitable Bowl Syndrome and sore throuts. Diet's rich in dairy or high in fats can be a very painful trigger for some because, the bowel normally contracts following one of these meals. But, if your body doesn't produce enough of the enzyme Lactose then these contractions can become really painful (a bit like going through child birth!) Adding more fibre to your diet can make a significant difference and relieve diarrhea and constipation. Licorice is a natual anti-inflammatory and can help relieve bowel irritation. Licorice also anticeptic properties thus can help relieve the onset of a throut infection. To relieve your symptoms try gargling and drinking hot licorice tea. This has been found to help reduce the inflammation of a sore throut and reduce bowel irritation and help respiratory discomfort, also try chewing on a licorice root every day can help you build up a resistance, it will help keep you hydrated because it helps you retain water. It should never be taken in excess though because it can make you feel very sick.

Myrrh Essential Oil
Wash for soar Mouth 1tsp of powdered borax, 1dsp of glycerine, 1dsp of tincture of myrrh. Disolve borax in a little water and mix it with the other ingredients in a 4 oz bottle. Fill it up with pure water and shake well and wash the mouth 3 times a day.
